Author Michael Crichton has died. Here's his prologue from Jurassic Park, as recited by another fine American, Charlton Heston.
Also, you may be interested in his thought provoking essay concerning the ill-effects of patents on the use of human genes, particularly with regard to treatment of diseases.

I read Michael Crichton's Next about a month ago. There is much to be learned on the subject of human genes in this novel. As are all of Crichton's books, it is a great read.
I was so saddened to hear of his death. His books never became tiresome, cookie cutter stories as is the case sometimes with such prolific novelists. I will miss his writing.
