Where Do You Shove YOUR Supplies?
For us insulin users, finding ways to conceal all the stuff we have to lug around every day has always been challenging. I’m now using a runner’s iPod armband holster around my ankle (when we go out) to stow gel tubes that are just too bulky for the pockets of dress pants.

For Jason Panchalk of Pima County, Arizona, the issue of carrying his syringes recently reared its ugly head, butt he was up to the task. And he’s not even diabetic. Bet you won’t be saying, “Now why didn’t I think of that?” after you read this.
From the Waste Not, Want Not Department, here's a clinic that gets a lot of mileage out of a syringe.
Also, are you burned out at work? Last week, the “Beeb” did this piece on stressed out Israeli workers with an increased tendency toward developing Type 2 diabetes.
Finally, what would you call insulin for a former NBA star from Sudan? Check out today’s Diabetic Terms & Conditions to find out.
And have a great leap-weekend everyone!!

That's a very smart way of carrying those Jeff. It reminds me of the movies where the cops have their guns holstered around their ankles lol. I'd imagine guys have to be pretty innovative when it comes to how they carry around all of their supplies.
Alison -- The iPod thing works quite well for me when I'm wearing dress slacks. It just needs to be high enough and snug enough so as to not slide down around my foot. Yes, we have to be creative, but I certainly don't envy the (more challenging, IMHO) problems that women face trying to find a place for their pumps while wearing nice clothes for an evening on the town or even for a day at the office.
You know what - I've never thought of doing that, but I think I might try it now! I have SO MUCH CRAP in my pockets that it would be very liberating to move some stuff elsewhere...
Thanks for the idea!
Scott -- I hear you loud and clear on the "SO MUCH CRAP" thing. Before I found one of these holsters, I used to stuff tubes of glucose tabs into my socks. They would immediately slip down around my lower ankles and grate against my skin all night.
This particular holster is called GOWalking, by Sportline, and it's made of very plyable wetsuit material. I can fit two gel tubes and one tube of tablets in it at the same time. It came from one of the chains like Sports Authority, or maybe even WalMart (can't recall which one at this point.) It also fits my MM 522 perfectly, if you're looking for a non-belt clip way to hold your pump.
That's an awesome idea. Reminds me of the picture of Kerri's pump hidden in her dress sock. Very clever!
Hi Mandy.
We have to go with whatever gets the job done, right? One thing I neglected to mention is that it's always a good idea to let someone know that you have some sugar stashed down there, just in case you become incapacitated by a severe low.
If people know we are diabetic, they might think to check our pockets for some sugar, but no one is going to "frisk" us in search of hidden carbohydrates unless they've been told ahead of time. So I always remind Nancy that I'm "carrying a concealed gel tube!"
