Mr. & Mrs. Porkchop.

While working on a project in our kitchen today, I had to move Mr. & Mrs. Porkchop out of the way, for their own safety. When we bought this house, the happy couple was already here, so you might say pigs.JPGthey inherited us. In their aprons they stand high up on a shelf, each about a foot tall, supervising whatever dish NancyTW happens to be putting together. I was always curious as to what they might be thinking whenever I assembled a ham sandwich, or when Nancy put a pork tenderloin into the oven. We’re turkey bacon fans, so they needn’t have fretted over our BLT lunches.

On a trip a few years ago, my curiosity got an answer one morning as Nancy and I took a leisurely walk through the Western Canada town of Nanaimo, British Columbia. It came from a lobster whose self preservation was manifested in his efforts to persuade hungry humans that they would be very satisfied with something along the lines of a Porterhouse.

When we returned home, I figured that Mr. & Mrs. Porkchop deserved at least the same opportunity as the Canadian crustacean to influence the menu at Chez Jeff. Since then, Mrs. Porkchop, whose upturned pig’s feet are well-I%20recommend%20the%20steak%20compressed.jpgsuited to the task, has steadfastly offered her and Mr. Porkchop’s nightly suggestions for our meal planning.

As for myself, I “highly recommend” visiting Nanaimo.

You got that right, Kelly.

While I'm still doing my best to keep this old body fit, I gave up long ago on the "sound mind" thing.
